My Story
Hello, my name is Zimi. I’m a South African living in Johannesburg, one of the most vibrant cities. I’m physically disabled, but I wasn’t born this way; I acquired my disability through what I consider a freak accident at the age of 3-4 years. As I was very young, living with a disability is the only reality I know.
I’m a mom to a two-year-old girl. She’s come into my life and given me a renewed sense of purpose, changing my perspective on many things.
I’m a learner at heart; always excited by the process of discovering new concepts. In 2020, I completed my Master of Commerce Degree at the University of Cape Town (GSB), one of Africa's top-rated business schools.
I'm also a corporate banking professional with 14 years of experience in various divisions. My career path in banking has been non-linear, which I find fulfilling.
In my spare time, I enjoy activities like hiking, beginner cycling, hitting the gym, and going on play dates. I also love binge-watching reality documentaries from the comfort of home.
As you can see, I am many things. I created this blog to showcase that disabled people are complete humans living full lives. Through this blog, I emphasize that one can have a disability and still lead a purposeful and fulfilling life. We are so much more than the title ‘disabled’. We are many other things too.
I’m here to educate, motivate, and inspire. Let’s share this adventure called life together!
